Edge Intelligence Hires CBO—Cue Press Release Rocket Rally

Another day, another micro-cap press release announcing that a new executive will somehow unlock the treasure buried in the go-to-market strategy. Edge Total Intelligence (TSXV: CTRL, OTCQB: UNFYF) has hired Jaci Tomek as Chief Business Officer, effective October 19, 2026, and would very much like you to believe this is a pivotal moment rather than the third or fourth act of a restructuring announced just twelve days earlier.

Let’s be fair to the facts. Tomek has a genuine resume: Chief Revenue Officer at Andesite AI, U.S. Public Sector Cortex lead at Palo Alto Networks where her team landed a nine-figure deal, the public sector business at Aerospike built from scratch, and an 86% three-year CAGR at RSA’s U.S. Public Sector unit after the NetWitness acquisition. Twenty-five years in cybersecurity and federal sales. She also sat on edgeTI’s board from May 2023 until September 2026, conveniently declining re-election weeks before accepting this job — so at minimum, she knows precisely what she’s signing up for, which is more than can be said for many executives parachuted into small-cap turnarounds.

Her mandate is expansive: run sales, business development, marketing and partnerships; get named operations onto the edgeCore platform “in weeks” via professional services; replicate deployments across shipyards, fleets, plants and allied programs; and offer licensing flexibility for customers who apparently want to buy software in every conceivable way. CEO Jason Nichols frames this as executing the growth strategy outlined in his shareholder letter.

Now, the skeptical reader will notice a few things the press release glosses over. First, the financial statements contain a material uncertainty about the company’s ability to continue as a going concern — a phrase that tends to matter more than any executive appointment. Second, edgeTI is chasing defense procurement, home of sales cycles measured in years and budgets hostage to whatever Congress feels like funding that quarter. Hiring a rainmaker does not shorten the Pentagon’s acquisition pipeline; ask anyone who’s watched a promising defense software vendor bleed cash waiting on an IDIQ contract to mature.

That said, the defense-tech corner of the market is enjoying its moment — AI, operational software, and “mission-critical” are the buzzwords du jour, and capital is flowing to anyone who can string them together credibly. edgeTI’s pitch, that edgeCore orchestrates data, people and AI in place without taking custody of the data, is genuinely differentiated on paper. Whether paper differentiation converts into recurring revenue before the balance sheet gets interesting is the actual question, and no press release answers it.

One hire with real federal credentials is a reasonable signal. It is not, however, a business model. Watch the bookings, the cash burn, and whether “weeks” to deployment turns out to mean quarters.
