On National Civics’s Day – October 27th – One Nation’s Brian Kilmeade Will Host Tweed Roosevelt at Long Island University to Launch AmericaCivics250.org – A Revolutionary Platform for Our Nation’s Children in Partnership with The School House and Founder Mimosa Jones Tunney

Backed by a $2.3 million U.S. Department of Education grant, AmericaCivics250.org brings hands-on – no screen – civics education teachers nationwide for free, building on the legacy of America’s 250th anniversary and the proud history of American President Theodore Rosevelt.

BROOKVILLE, N.Y., Oct. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — In recognition of National Civics Day, Long Island University (LIU) and The School House, in partnership with American Emergent Curriculum Inc. (AEC), will host a remarkable panel featuring Brian Kilmeade and Tweed Roosevelt. While deep diving into our collective civic duty, the AmericaCivics250.org educator platform will be released live and free to every teacher in America during the panel.

The launch marks an important milestone in the $2.3 million federally funded initiative announced in December 2025. Supported by the U.S. Department of Education. Through its American History & Civics Semi quincentennial grant program, thousands of teachers across the nation will have access to a deeper, hands-on option for their elementary school children.

Educators can now register for free at www.americaCivics250.org to explore lessons designed to bring American history, government, and the principles of citizenship to life in their classrooms.

The launch is particularly meaningful on National Civics Day, observed annually on October 27. National Civics Day commemorates the publication of the first of 85 Federalist Papers on October 27, 1787. Written by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay under the pseudonym “Publius,” the papers helped shape the national debate surrounding the ratification of the U.S. Constitution.

Nearly 240 years later, the importance of educating young Americans about the principles, responsibilities, and opportunities of citizenship remains as relevant as ever.

Bringing Civics Education to Life

At the heart of AmericaCivics250.org is a shared commitment to making civics education more meaningful, accessible, and engaging for Learners and Educators. Rather than relying on screens, cartoons, or passive instruction, the program emphasizes hands-on participation, critical thinking, historical understanding, and real-world civic engagement.

Children who have used the program already have a bill before the New York State Assembly requiring math manipulatives to be used in K-3 classrooms. Through projects and experiential learning like the example above, Learners are encouraged to explore how government works, understand the foundations of American democracy, and discover the role they can play in shaping their communities and their country’s future.

The goal is to help Learners understand not only how American democracy works, but how they can actively participate in it.

As The School House and AmericaCivics250.org founder, Mimosa Jones Tunney, describes it, “Civics education should be something children experience, not simply something they memorize. When Learners have opportunities to ask questions, debate ideas, understand their rights and responsibilities, and actively participate in their communities, they begin to understand what citizenship truly means. Through AmericaCivics250.org, we’re giving Educators the tools to bring that kind of learning into their classrooms.”

About The School House
