Larger-than-life adventures, meet our biggest sale of the year.
Every EF Adventures tour is on sale during the campaign, with savings of $200 to $600 depending on the tour and departure date. On top of those savings, EF Adventures is spotlighting a different style of adventure each week with an additional $200 off — bringing total savings to up to $800. Savings are available in limited quantities at each tier, so travelers are encouraged to book early for the best price on their preferred departure.
Active travel is about the experiences that make life feel bigger — the ones that bring new perspectives, stories worth telling and memories that stick. But thinking about a big trip and committing to it are two different things. The Black Friday Adventure is designed to make that decision easier, with a limited-time offer on small-group tours led by expert tour directors and local guides.
“Active travelers tell us they are ready to go, with more than half planning to travel internationally more often in the next year according to a recent EF Adventures survey conducted by Qualtrics Research,” said Heidi Durflinger, CEO of EF World Journeys, operator of EF Adventures. “Adventure seekers want more from their travels, including time outdoors, real cultural connections and meaningful moments with people they meet along the way.”
THE BLACK FRIDAY ADVENTURE, WEEK BY WEEK
“This is our biggest sale of the year, and we’ve built it to give travelers even more reasons to say ‘yes’ every week with some EPIC deals to amazing active travel experiences with even more savings as we approach Black Friday itself,” added Durflinger.

WHY NOW? INSIGHTS FROM THE ADVENTURE TRAVELER REPORT, VOL. II
The Black Friday Adventure arrives as new EF Adventures research shows appetite for active, immersive travel is growing — and that price is the biggest barrier standing between travelers and their next big trip. The Adventure Traveler Report, Vol. II, a survey of U.S. adults fielded via Qualtrics in September 2026, found:
Travelers want to go — cost is what’s holding them back
- 52% plan to travel internationally more often over the next 12–24 months; only 8% plan to travel less.
- 50% say the cost of travel is what’s holding them back — more than double any other barrier. Price and value is also the No. 1 factor (56%) when choosing an adventure company for the first time. Interest-free payment plans, like those offered via EF Adventures, enable travelers to plan ahead and reduce credit card debt.
- This holiday season, travel is on the gift list: 87% find giving or receiving a trip instead of a physical gift appealing, and 51% say they’re likely to give a travel experience as a gift this year.
Adventure means immersion, not intensity
- 78% of active travelers expect meaningful cultural immersion woven into their trip. Eating local and regional food (44%), learning the history of places visited (31%) and spending time in small towns rather than big cities (28%) top the list.
- Only 6% define adventure travel as “physically demanding.” What makes an active day satisfying is scenery (53%) and time outdoors (49%) — not distance covered (20%) or calories burned (21%).
- 83% find multi-adventure trips — multiple activities in one itinerary — appealing, led by good value (41%) and the chance to see more of a destination (40%).
Active Women 50+ are redefining adventure travel
- Two-thirds (66%) Women ages 50–65 say active travel helps them feel better physically or mentally during midlife changes such as perimenopause or menopause.
- 65% of women 50–65 find a trip designed around women’s midlife health — movement, rest, nutrition and community — appealing, and nearly half (49%) agree there isn’t enough travel designed for women their age.
- 59% of women 50–65 say they personally plan or pay for the family milestone trip, with milestone birthdays (44%) and retirement (31%) the top reasons to go.
- 65% of women 50–65 prefer light-to-easy activity levels, and Italy (55%) and Greece (37%) are top picks for an active trip.
Fun facts from the trail
- Italy is the No. 1 dream destination for an active trip (41%), followed by Switzerland (35%) and Japan (34%). In Italy, Tuscany leads (45%).
- Comfort counts: 78% of travelers say recovery amenities like a sauna, hot tub, pool or massage would sway which of two similar active trips they book. Among women 50–65, 85% call a hot shower with good water pressure very important or essential after a day on the trail.
- We’re going to need a bigger suitcase: 76% of travelers say uncertainty about what to pack affects their decision to book a more demanding active trip.
- Friends and family remain the most trusted source of travel recommendations (42%) — rising to 65% among women 50–65 — while 16% of travelers already use AI assistants to plan trips.
