PETROLIA, ON, Oct. 15, 2026 /CNW/ — The active transportation network in the Town of Petrolia will be expanded following an investment of up to $300,000 from the federal government.
This was announced by MP Marilyn Gladu and Mayor R. Brad Loosley.
The project will involve the replacement of over one kilometre of existing sidewalks throughout the Town of Petrolia, making them safer and more accessible.
The Town will also build more than two kilometres of new sidewalks, expanding the active transportation network, connecting residential areas and downtown Petrolia for pedestrians, and reducing the dependency on vehicles to commute.
Active transportation networks help Canadians live active, healthy lifestyles. They allow people to get their daily exercise on the way to work, school, or gatherings, while reducing Canadians’ carbon footprint.
