NESR and Aramco Sign Agreement to Deliver the Region’s First Direct Lithium Extraction Project

The turnkey project leverages NESR’s LiThara™ platform to include pre-treatment, direct lithium extraction, and carbonation technology for Saudi Arabia’s first lithium project, with up to five-year contract value of approximately USD $200 million

DHAHRAN, Saudi Arabia, Oct. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — National Energy Services Reunited Corp. (NESR), a leading oilfield services provider in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), today announced that its business segment, NESR Environmental and Decarbonization Applications (NEDA), has entered into an agreement with Aramco to execute the Aramco 2027 Lithium Demonstration Project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This first-of-its-kind project aims to produce 2,000 tons per annum (tpa) of battery-grade lithium carbonate, with commissioning and start of production planned for late 2027.

This agreement combines Aramco’s deep subsurface expertise, honed over decades of exploration and operations, along with NEDA’s integrated pre-treatment, direct lithium extraction (DLE), and carbonation technology portfolio, housed under NESR’s LiThara™ platform. LiThara™ modular solutions are designed to condition brine feedstock and extract lithium in a single, integrated process, enabling rapid, scalable deployment. This approach offers competitive operating costs and ensures that the production of battery-grade lithium carbonate meets the fast-growing demand of the global energy transition.

The project also builds on NESR’s regional subsurface and field operations experience across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
