Intown Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine is celebrating its 20th anniversary, two decades after Deneta H. Sells, MD, FAAP, opened the practice in a small Grant Park bungalow in 2006. What began as a single-physician neighborhood office has grown into a three-location practice caring for thousands of children and families across Atlanta from Glenwood Park, Brookhaven and Decatur.
ATLANTA, Sept. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Intown Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine, P.C. is marking 20 years of pediatric care in Atlanta. Founded in September 2006 by Deneta H. Sells, MD, FAAP, the practice now cares for infants, children, adolescents and young adults from three offices in Glenwood Park, Brookhaven and Decatur, and this year is recognizing two decades of families who have trusted it with their children’s health.
The practice opened in a Grant Park bungalow with a straightforward premise: that in-town Atlanta families deserved a true neighborhood pediatrician, one who was reachable, involved in the community and available at the times parents actually needed. Demand outgrew that first space quickly. In December 2009, Intown Pediatrics moved around the corner into a larger, purpose-built office in Glenwood Park. Continued growth led the practice to open its Brookhaven location in May 2017 and its Decatur location in April 2022, extending care further across the city.
Over 20 years, that growth has produced something a newer practice cannot offer: continuity. Children who came through the door as newborns in 2006 are now young adults, seen by many of the same clinicians who weighed them at their first well-child visit. The practice cares for patients from birth through young adulthood, and long-term relationships with both parents and children remain the center of how it operates.
The clinical team has grown alongside the locations and now includes board-certified pediatricians and pediatric and family nurse practitioners across the three offices. Several members of the team first encountered Intown Pediatrics as residents or graduate students completing clinical rotations at the practice and later returned as attending clinicians, a pattern that has helped keep the culture of the original office intact as the group expanded. Services span newborn care, well-child visits, immunizations and preventive screenings, treatment of common childhood illnesses, management of chronic conditions such as asthma and allergies, developmental and behavioral care, and adolescent mental health support. The practice also offers flexible appointment times, including evening hours and Saturday morning hours at its Glenwood Park office, along with after-hours advice for parents.
“When I opened Intown Pediatrics in that Grant Park bungalow in 2006, the idea was simple: be the neighborhood doctor families could actually reach,” said Deneta H. Sells, MD, FAAP, founder of Intown Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine. “Twenty years later we have three offices and a much larger team, but that idea has not changed. What has changed is that I now see patients I first met as newborns walk in as young adults. Watching a generation of Atlanta children grow up is the part of this work I did not anticipate and would not trade. To every family who has trusted us with their children over these two decades, thank you. We are looking forward to the years of caring still ahead.”
Intown Pediatrics is marking the anniversary with its patient families throughout the year. The practice continues to accept new patients at all three locations.
