CTA Construction Managers continues to make progress on Fort River Elementary School and the school is expected to be completed on schedule.
AMHERST, Mass., Aug. 13, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — CTA Construction Managers recently joined town officials, school representatives, and project partners to celebrate the topping off of the new Fort River Elementary School, marking a major milestone in the construction of this next-generation educational facility in Amherst, Massachusetts.
The new school was designed by Boston– based architect firm DiNisco Design. “The event commemorated the placement of the final steel beam on the 105,750 square-foot, three-story school, a significant step forward in creating a sustainable and innovative learning environment for the Amherst community,” said Donna DiNisco, Principal, DiNisco Design. “This project reflects the town’s strong commitment to sustainability, equity, and educational excellence,” she continued.
Slated to serve students from grades K–5, Fort River Elementary School is a Net Zero Energy facility. The building features building-mounted and canopy-mounted photovoltaic (PV) solar panels, along with a ground-source heat pump HVAC system powered by 85 geothermal wells, positioning it at the forefront of green school design in the Commonwealth.

The Fort River Elementary School is expected to be completed on schedule, delivering a state-of-the-art educational facility that meets the needs of the community today and for decades to come.
