Yank Technologies expands collaboration with NASA for power interfacing solutions on lunar and planetary surfaces.
BROOKLYN, N.Y., Aug. 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Yank Technologies, the developer of disruptive long range, high power wireless charging solutions, has been selected for another two-year follow-on Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II contract from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to advance Wireless Power Receiver Converters for lunar and planetary surfaces.
Wireless Power Receiver Converters will improve rover system efficiency and reduce rover mass by consolidating multiple converters into a single stage. Furthermore, the wide input voltage range of these converters improve charging reliability by supporting greater degrees of misalignment and variable charging distances for wireless power transmission on the Moon and Mars. Regolith and dust storms create major operational and reliability challenges because the exposed connection points of traditional connectors are vulnerable to dust and regolith accumulation. Wireless Power Receiver Converters enable contactless wireless power transfer on lunar and planetary surfaces, improving charging dependability and long-term operation for rovers.
Leveraging their wireless power expertise, Yank Technologies has successfully delivered Wireless Power Receiver Converters to NASA and will be advancing these products for future NASA missions. During this Phase II Contract, Yank Technologies will be advancing their Wireless Power Receiver Converter for space environments, advancing it to a Technology Readiness Level of 6 for future NASA lunar and planetary missions. This includes optimizing the size, weight, and power for the system and incorporating reconfigurability features, such as programmable output voltages for different rovers models, to be readily infused into upcoming NASA missions.
