IRVING, Texas, Aug. 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Scouting America kicks off its fall recruitment season by welcoming incoming Cub Scouts by shining a spotlight on how the lessons learned in Cub Scouts prepare young people to succeed both in Scouting, and every new adventure life throws their way.
Cub Scouts offers a fun, welcoming and structured environment where kids can try new things, build friendships and discover their strengths. It’s more than hiking and camping; it’s about helping kids be “Prepared. For Life®”. From making new friends to earning their first badge, Cub Scouts take those early, thrilling steps with enthusiasm and heart. Every hike, every campfire and every challenge they face builds a foundation of resilience and a love of learning.
“Every great leader, athlete or innovator can trace their success back to those first, formative steps,” said Roger Krone, president and CEO of Scouting America. “Each new adventure begins with thrilling, uncertain first steps—moments that ignite a lifelong journey of learning, leadership and resilience. In Cub Scouts, we empower young people with the courage, curiosity and skills they need to confidently embrace every new challenge and opportunity ahead.”
This fall, Scouting America is encouraging families to explore Cub Scouts. From setting up a tent to helping a teammate or participating in a community project, Cub Scouts learn critical real-world skills early on including teamwork, problem-solving, empathy and perseverance. The program is designed to transform wide-eyed beginners into leaders capable of tackling any challenge with a “can-do” mindset.
David Montgomery—Eagle Scout, professional running back and official recruitment ambassador for Scouting America—knows firsthand how transformative Scouting can be. “Before I ever picked up a football, I was a Cub Scout,” said Montgomery. “Scouting taught me the importance of showing up, working hard and persevering through challenges. Those lessons have stayed with me and continue to guide me every time I step onto the field. That’s why I’m proud to encourage more kids to experience the opportunities and growth that Scouting offers.”
“Trying something brand new takes guts,” said Krone. “Scouting America is committed to supporting every family as their child turns that first step into a lifelong adventure of growth and self-assurance.”
Scouting America understands that balancing school, sports and other activities can be a challenge. That’s why the organization offers flexible programs that fit into busy schedules. This fall, join Scouting as we cheer on the energy, excitement and bravery of new adventures. To find a local pack and start your Scouting journey, visit www.BeAScout.org.
