LOS ANGELES, July 15, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — WiSP, formerly My Bouncer, is an Israeli start-up that has developed a patent-pending technology to provide comprehensive information on what, and how, we consume. Designed as an integrated platform consisting of a reusable device, and an app, WiSP combines expertise in consumer understanding, chemical engineering, and electro-optics to revolutionize personal safety and consumption habits. Starting with the detection of common drugs used in drink spiking, and the ability to report on sugar levels and alcohol count, WiSP is on track as the first wellness and safety device to enhance lifestyle habits based on individualized data.
“I am deeply committed to driving innovation that creates real impact, which is why I’m proud to officially announce WiSP as a larger movement for harm reduction and overall wellness,” says Liat Kaplan, co-founder and CEO. “We test everything after it’s in us; why not before? By starting with drink spiking and evolving into a broader platform, WiSP will become a leading technology that will detect and track numerous levels to enhance health.”
WiSP’s patented-pending technology includes Raman Spectroscopy; a powerful analytical technique commonly used to identify and analyze the chemical composition of materials. Validated by forensic and biotech labs, WiSP leverages machine learning for instant data interpretation with future applications aimed at detecting contaminants and hidden dangers in a wide range of substances. By starting with drink spiking, alcohol intake, and sugar consumption, WiSP plans to expand its discovery capabilities to address harm reduction needs such as the detection of fentanyl and, in the future, allergens and infections.
“WiSP is a platform that makes wellness actionable by empowering individuals to make informed choices about their consumption through knowledge and proactive safety measures. We started with drink spiking first as it touches on a real pain-point in the marketplace as many have grappled with the risks of potentially being drugged in social and night life settings. But WiSP is much more than that. We provide a path to wellness that tracks intake trends and wellness goals while providing lab-grade accuracy,” Kaplan continues.
As an introduction to the US and global markets, WiSP partnered with It’s in Nottingham to test-drive WiSP’s capabilities as a proactive step toward nightlife safety. Additionally, the company also conducted a public beta pilot across US college campuses to understand the demand for safety such settings, particularly those affiliated with Greek Life organizations. The pilot unveiled high interest from sorority participants who believed WiSP would provide an additional measure of security for college students.
“For the last several weeks, we’ve brought our WiSP with us everywhere, and it was really cool to see that all our sorority members were genuinely excited to use it,” says Elise Purcell, an Undergrad at WashU. “It was amazing to see how seamlessly WiSP became a part of our ‘normal’ night out. The product itself is very discrete and if someone noticed, it was because they wanted to learn more about its features, even at our off-campus events. It’s clear that people are lacking something like WiSP in their everyday lives, and I believe it could be pivotal in helping people feel safe at social events—not just in Greek life, but everywhere.”
Over 80% of Greek life members who participated in the pilot agreed that having WiSP at the event, enhanced their feeling of safety.
WiSP will be available in 2026. For more information, visit https://www.get-wisp.com/.
